Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (m/f/d)

During the Study Program.

Students in the field of Plastics Engineering acquire the skills to develop, design, and test new products. Plastics-specific knowledge is primarily gained during the practical phases in the company, where it is applied in plastics engineering projects. Engineers (m/f/d) in plastics technology are versatile professionals in the areas of manufacturing, process and materials technology, plastic product design, and project management.

The dual study program offers a unique combination of theory and practice. Students alternate every three months between academic study at the Dual University and practical experience in the company. In this way, they gain both technical and methodological knowledge, as well as the practical and social competencies needed in the workplace. The theory and practice are closely aligned and incorporate current developments in business, technology, and society.

During the practical phases, students first learn the basic processing techniques. Over the course of the three-year program, they rotate through all areas of the company—from development to the delivery of the finished product. Smaller projects are initially carried out under supervision and then independently. In the third year, this culminates in the Bachelor’s thesis.

Duration of the dual study program: 6 semesters

Testimonials.

My name is Louis, and I started my Dual Study program for a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Plastics Technology at KNIPPING in October 2018. I am currently in my 2nd semester, and my university is in Mosbach. I first became aware of KNIPPING through the training day, where I had some great initial conversations.

What I particularly like about KNIPPING is the family-like atmosphere, a demanding yet healthy set of expectations, and, above all, the friendly and helpful employees.

My studies started with learning basic mechanical skills in the training workshop. Then, I was taught how to use the company’s in-house design software in the development department. In my first year at KNIPPING, I already gained interesting insights into maintenance and quality control. I even had the opportunity to contribute to a project development.

These factors were key in my decision to choose KNIPPING: an ambitious, forward-thinking company with great perspectives; a familiar, interpersonal working environment; excellent chances of being hired after the apprenticeship; and a wide range of activities outside of work.
