Collection of general information
When you access our website, information of a general nature is automatically collected. This information (server log files) includes, for example, the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your Internet service provider, and the like. This is only information that does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person. This information is technically required for the correct delivery of content requested by you from websites and is mandatory when using the Internet. Anonymous information of this kind is statistically evaluated by us in order to optimise our Internet presence and the technology behind it.
Cookies
Like many other websites, we also use so-called “cookies”. Cookies are small text files that are transferred from a website server to your hard drive. This automatically provides us with certain data such as IP address, browser used, operating system via your computer, and your connection to the Internet.
Cookies cannot be used to start programmes or transfer viruses to a computer. The information contained in cookies allows us to simplify your navigation and display our web pages correctly.
Under no circumstances will the data collected by us be passed on to third parties or linked to personal data without your consent.
Of course, you can also view our website without cookies. Internet browsers are regularly set to accept cookies. You can deactivate the use of cookies at any time via your browser settings. Please use the help functions of your Internet browser to find out how you can change these settings. Please note that individual functions of our website may not work if you have deactivated the use of cookies.
Provision of chargeable services
In order to provide services subject to a charge, we will ask for additional data, such as payment details.
SSL encryption
In order to protect the security of your data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption procedures (e.g. SSL) via HTTPS.
Newsletter
When you register to receive our newsletter, the data you provide will be used exclusively for this purpose. Subscribers may also be informed by e-mail of circumstances relevant to the service or registration (e.g. changes in the newsletter offering or technical circumstances).
For an effective registration we need a valid e-mail address. We use the “double opt-in” procedure to verify that a registration is actually carried out by the owner of an e-mail address. For this purpose, we log the order of the newsletter, the dispatch of a confirmation e-mail and the receipt of the reply requested herewith. Further data will not be collected. The data will be used exclusively for the newsletter dispatch and will not be passed on to third parties.
You can revoke your consent to the storage of your personal data and its use for newsletter dispatch at any time. In every newsletter you will find a corresponding link. You can also unsubscribe directly from this website at any time or inform us of your wish via the contact details given at the end of this data privacy notice.
Contact form
If you contact us by e-mail or contact form, the information you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing your inquiry and for possible follow-up questions.
Deletion or blocking of data
We comply with the principles of data avoidance and data economy. Therefore, we only store your personal data for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes stated here or as for the duration of the various storage periods provided for by law. After the respective purpose has ceased to exist or these periods have expired, the corresponding data will be routinely blocked or deleted in accordance with the statutory provisions.
Use of Piwik
This website uses Piwik, an open source software for statistical evaluation of visitor access. Piwik uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site.
The information generated by the cookie about your website use is stored on a server in Germany.
The IP address is anonymised immediately after processing and before it is stored. You have the option of preventing the installation of cookies by changing your browser software settings. We would like to point out that, with the appropriate settings, all functions of this website may no longer be available.
You can decide whether a unique web analysis cookie may be stored in your browser in order to enable the website operator to collect and analyse various statistical data.
Use of script libraries (Google webfonts)
In order to present our content correctly and in a graphically appealing manner across all browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries such as Google Web Fonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/) on this website. Google Web Fonts are transferred to your browser’s cache to avoid multiple loading. If the browser does not support Google Web Fonts or does not allow access, content will be displayed in a default font.
The calling up of script libraries or font libraries automatically triggers a connection to the library operator. In so doing, it is theoretically possible – but currently also unclear whether and, if so, for what purposes – the operators of such libraries collect data.
The library operator Google’s privacy policy can be found here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/
Use of Google Maps
This website uses Google Maps API to visually display geographic information. When Google Maps is used, Google also collects, processes and uses data on the use of the map functions by visitors. You can find more detailed information about data processing by Google in the Google data privacy information. There you can also change your personal data privacy settings in the data privacy centre.
Detailed instructions on how to manage your own data in connection with Google products can be found here.
Embedded YouTube videos
We embed Youtube videos on some of our websites. Operator of the corresponding plugins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit a page with the YouTube plugin, a connection is established to Youtube servers. This will tell Youtube which pages you are visiting. If you are logged in to your Youtube account, Youtube can assign your surfing behaviour to you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your Youtube account beforehand.
If a Youtube video is started, the provider uses cookies which collect information about the user behaviour.
Those who have deactivated the saving of cookies for the Google Ad programme will not have to reckon with such cookies when watching Youtube videos. However, Youtube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you wish to prevent this, you must block the storage of cookies in your browser.
Further information on data privacy at “Youtube” can be found in the provider’s data privacy declaration at: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/
Social Plugins
On our websites social plugins of the providers listed below are used. You can recognise the plugins by the fact that they are marked with the corresponding logo.
These plugins may be used to send information, including personal data, to the service provider and may be used by the service provider. We prevent the unconscious and unintentional collection and transfer of data to the service provider by means of a 2-click solution. To activate a desired social plugin, it first needs to be activated by clicking on the corresponding button. Only this activation of the plugin triggers the collection of information and its transmission to the service provider. We do not collect any personal data ourselves by means of the social plugins or through their use.
We have no influence on which data an activated plugin collects or how the data is used by the provider. At present, it must be assumed that a direct connection to the provider’s services will be established and that, at least, the IP address and device-related information will be recorded and used. It is also possible for service providers to attempt to store cookies on the computer used. Please refer to the data privacy information of the respective service provider to find out which concrete data is collected and how it is used. Note: If you are logged on to Facebook at the same time, Facebook can identify you as a visitor to a specific page.
We have included the social media buttons of the following companies on our website:
Facebook Inc. (1601 S. California Ave – Palo Alto – CA 94304 – USA)
Twitter Inc. (795 Folsom St. – Suite 600 – San Francisco – CA 94107 – USA)
Google Plus/Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway – Mountain View – CA 94043 – USA)
Data privacy for job applications and in the job application process
The data controller collects and processes the personal data of applicants for the purpose of processing the application procedure. Processing may also be carried out electronically. This is particularly the case if an applicant submits the relevant application documents electronically, for example by e-mail or via a web form on the website, to the data controller. If the data controller concludes an employment contract with an applicant, the data transmitted shall be stored for the purpose of processing the employment relationship in compliance with the statutory provisions. If the controller does not conclude a contract of employment with the candidate, the application file shall be automatically deleted six months after notification of the refusal decision, unless deletion conflicts with any other legitimate interests of the controller. Other legitimate interests within this meaning include, for example, the duty to provide evidence in proceedings under the “Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz” [General Equal Treatment Act – AGG].
Your rights to information, correction, blocking, deletion, and objection
You have the right to receive information about your personal data stored by us at any time. Apart from the prescribed data storage for business transactions, you also have the right to have your personal data corrected, blocked or deleted. Please contact our data privacy officer. You will find the contact details at the bottom of this page.
For blocked data to be considered at any time, this data must be kept in a blocked file for control purposes. You can also request the data to be deleted, provided no legal archiving obligation exists. If such an obligation exists, we will block your data on request.
You can change or revoke your consent by notifying us accordingly with effect for the future.
Changes to our data privacy regulations
We reserve the right to amend this data privacy declaration from time to time, to ensure that it always complies with current legal requirements or in order to implement changes to our services in the data privacy declaration, e.g. when introducing new services. Your renewed visit will then be subject to the new data privacy declaration.

If you have any questions about data privacy, please send us an e-mail or contact our data privacy officer directly:
